🌟 Impact Story: A New Home and Medical Hope for Mrs. Begum in Bangladesh

In the remote north-east of Bangladesh lives an elderly couple who have faced unimaginable hardship.

Mrs. Maleka Begum once worked tirelessly at a rice processing site, earning only £3 per day. One day, tragedy struck when a 25kg sack of rice fell directly onto her back. At first, she sought help from a local homeopathic doctor who prescribed medicine and advised rest. But as days passed, her condition worsened — she could no longer sit or stand.

With no income and no medical treatment, her husband was forced to beg for food just to keep them alive. For three long years, Mrs. Begum remained completely bed-bound, suffering from pain and swelling in her hands, while her husband struggled in silence.

To make matters worse, their home was falling apart — unsafe walls, a leaking roof, and no protection from the elements. Living below the poverty line, they had no hope of ever affording treatment or a secure place to live.

How MP Foundation Stepped In

When their story reached us, we knew urgent action was needed. Through the generosity of our supporters, MP Foundation was able to fundraise for both medical care and a new home.

✅ Medical Support:

  • Arranged ambulance service to safely transport Mrs. Begum

  • Booked an MRI scan for proper diagnosis

  • Connected her with an orthopaedic specialist for treatment

  • Launched an appeal to rebuild their unsafe home

  • Reached the fundraising target for a new tin-shed house

  • Construction materials are now being prepared by volunteers
